Mothers' Union

Weybridge Mothers' Union, St James' branch, is within the Diocese of Guildford Mothers' Union - www.muguildford.org.uk. Members belong to the Worldwide network of Mothers' Union which has 4 million members in over 80 countries - www.themothersunion.org.

Our commitment is to our faith, fellowship and social justice. Membership is open to everyone, from all walks of life and whatever their circumstances. MU members will be found in all departments of parish life in St James'.

There are two groups within this branch reflecting the fellowship needs of the members, but many  members attend meetings of both groups. The Tuesday afternoon group meets on the first Tuesday of every month at 2 pm, usually with a guest speaker.

MU@8 meets 4 times a year at 8 pm, and occasionally there will be a guest speaker. These are  usually informal, social gatherings. In both groups, friendship and mutual support of members are the key principles.

Mothers' Union in St James' supports Mothers' Union worldwide programmes and local families who are suffering from financial hardship. Over the years, this branch has established a relationship of mutual trust with local Health Visitors and the Children's Centre who have first hand knowledge of families in need. Each year, MU@8 co-ordinates a Christmas Appeal within the church congregation when store Gift Cards are donated and distributed to local needy families to boost their housekeeping budgets.

Nurturing young families within our own church congregation is important to Mothers' Union so we offer support to our Sunday School, provide posies for Mothering Sunday and distribute Easter Eggs on Easter Day.
